Sustainability Values
It's often overlooked, but floristry is an industry with a huge carbon footprint. Far removed from the natural beauty of the flowers themselves.
Of the UK's £1.3billion flower industry, 90% of the cut flowers are estimated to be imported from all over the globe. Flowers from multiple countries end up in a single bouquet, wrapped in single use, non recyclable plastics.
This just didn't sit right with me, when you can grow such gorgeous flowers here, in Ayrshire.

Grown in the UKLocally grown, sustainable flowers are the most important thing here at WilderBlooms, many come from my very own cottage garden. But in order to meet with growing demand I have decided to work with other flower farmers across the Ayshire and the UK. My very carefully selected suppliers focus on sustainability, eco friendly practices, and one is even certified organic! I am very proud to work with them. Transparency in sourcing is as important to me as it is to you, so keep and eye on product descriptions for "flower miles" a little indicator of where in the UK each flower came from. I strive to keep this as local as possible.

Seasonal FlowersI don't import any flowers or foliage from overseas. This means I am a truly seasonal florist. The fresh flower season in the UK runs from around March til October. In which time you can expect an abundance of colourful and highly scented, sustainable flowers. Over the winter months dried flowers and evergreen foliage of interesting shapes and textures will shine here

Eco Friendly PackagingPlastic wrap, elastic bands, floral foam and polyester ribbons. Non-recyclable, single use plastics frequently accompany flowers into our homes, and are staples of many commercial florists. Sadly these inevitably go to landfill where they break down into microplastics, ending up in the foods we eat, the water we drink and the soil we grow our produce in. WilderBlooms packaging is almost completely biodegradable, and even home-compostable! The only plastic i havent quite managed to eliminate is adhesives in the form of glues or tapes. So before you recycle or compost, just make sure to remove the sticky tape!
